Rehabilitation Stories

Robin with Hook

This adult male robin was found by a Naperville resident on April 27th struggling in some bushes. He had become entangled in fishing line and had a fish hook stuck inside his mouth. The residents cut some of the fishing line to free the bird and bring it to Willowbrook.

Animal keepers were able to sedate the bird and successfully remove the fish hook from the bird’s throat. After 10 days of antibiotics, the bird recovered completely. He is currently in the outdoor rehabilitation area and should be released by the end of the month.

Please remember to be responsible when fishing and dispose of any litter, including fishing line, hooks, and bait containers. All trash poses a hazardous threat to the wildlife around us!
