Fox Kits
These 3 red fox kits were found in Glen Ellyn near their dead mother. The male fox will normally help care for the young by providing food for the babies as well as the female adult. However, residents in the neighborhood reported that an adult male fox had been found dead after being hit by a car several weeks earlier. The female fox slowly became weaker trying to provide enough food for herself and her offspring. Unfortunately, she was unable to accomplish this difficult task on her own and passed away.
The fox kits will remain at Willowbrook until late summer when they are old enough to survive on their own in the wild. In the mean time, they will be housed in the outdoor rehab area with Willowbrook’s non-releasable fox from Trail. This adult fox will act as a role model to the youngsters. She will teach them how to “be a fox,” hunt, and be weary of humans.
